Position Overview:
As a Senior Project Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the financial analysis and reporting for our client's development projects. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial management, effective stakeholder communication, and process improvement initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in finance and project accounting, particularly if you have experience within the construction, property, real estate or mining sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

• Approve expenses and liaise with project managers to approve land development project invoicing.
• Perform accurate financial reconciliations of work-in-progress balances, inventory records, and cost of sales determination.
• Track financial progress of development projects through monthly results analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Analyse project ledger accounts and financial statements to ensure financial accuracy.
• Identify project budgets and effectively communicate with key stakeholders, including senior management.
• Conduct in-depth financial investigations of project expenses and report remaining project funds to senior management.

Stakeholder Management:

• Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Effectively communicate and manage stakeholder expectations regarding financial targets, budgets, and costs for development projects.
• Understand and prioritize the key project milestones.

Process Improvement:

• Proactively build upon project accounting processes and policies in line with best practices and emerging technology.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Commerce.
• CPA/CA Qualification.
• 5-7 years' experience in finance/accounting roles.
• Previous project accounting experience.
• Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills.
• Prior knowledge of recognised ERP systems
